Foreign and Ecuadorian expatriate researchers who participate in Prometeo will be linked to national scientific research institutions, Ecuadorian universities or polytechnic schools and will contribute significantly to the development of research in Ecuador.

During foreign researcher stays in Ecuador, Prometeo will cover the following costs:

• Airfare

• Health and life insurance

• Scientific and cultural visits to destinations chosen by the researcher

• Obtaining work visas

For Ecuadorian researchers who intend to return and live permanently in Ecuador, Prometeo will finance:

• Internationally competitive compensation for one year

• An additional housing allowance for the first three months of their assignment

• Return airfare to Ecuador

• Health and life insurance

• Reduced customs duties and assistance in transporting household goods and work equipment; the obtainment of work visas; and other advisory services provided by the National Migration Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador.
