Prometeo "Viejos Sabios" Program is an initiative that seeks to build the research capacities of institutions in the country that are engaged in science, by linking them with foreign and Ecuadorian researchers residing abroad.

Prometeo includes stays for "Wise Elder" foreign scientists with considerable and recognized experience in the areas of science, technology, innovation and productivity.

Similarly, Prometeo is intended to attract Ecuadorian talents – "Brilliant Minds" – who live in foreign countries, by offering them local incentives to return permanently to their native country.
